Mobile App Seeks to Prevent Human Trafficking T he Lifeboat Project—founded and directed by Jill Cohen, PW in Central Florida, to educate about and pre- vent human trafficking—has developed a one-of-a-kind e ducational gaming app for students between the ages of 11 and 15. This app was developed in partnership with ECS (Engineering and Computer Simulation). The objective of the game is for players to recognize and cor- rectly identify cues or "red flags" that signify a situation where trafficking may be occurring. Players have access to lifelines that give them valid information about human trafficking. The lifelines include a reference library, an informed police officer who is a family friend, and a class- mate/friend of the player. Players can mark a hotspot with a "red flag" or simply ignore the object if they deem it normal. Each scene has a number of correct "red flag" hotspots. Users must play through the scene until the correct objects have been tagged. The app, called Aware- ness Combats Trafficking (ACT!), will be available in late February 2016 from mobile application stores. May's Together in Action Days Educate a Child Initiative Presbyterian Women is supporting the PC(USA)'S Educate a Child, Transform the World initiative in this triennium and beyond. Through this initiative, the church hopes to improve education for one million children in the U.S. and around the world, focusing particularly on strengthening early childhood education and decreasing drop-out rates. (More information is available at www.presbyterianmission.org/ministries/call- mission/globalpoverty.) Presbyterian Women pledge, through the Purpose, to work for justice and peace. You can be sure you are working for peace and justice at the most fundamental level when you work with children, the most vulnerable and easily exploited members of society. How can your church or PW group support this effort? Maybe an after-school program that will help kids with homework or to improve their reading skills? Could you partner with another church to make a community impact for kids? Email yvonne.hileman@pcusa.org with ideas. In the meantime, implement those ideas and plan now for PW's May Together in Action Days, focused around children's literacy! May Together in Action Days will coincide with Children's Book Week, May 2–8, 2016. Visit www.presbyterianwomen.org/justice for ideas. m o s a i c
